AUTHORIZED TO CARRY

(ATC) PERMIT COURSE

The rise in assaults against security guards has increased in North America and security guards are often a target of circumstance. The Authorized to Carry (ATC) course is mandatory for any armed security guard to lawfully possess and carry a firearm while on duty.

Course note: All participants must be enrolled by an approved armed security service by the SOLGEN.

COURSE DETAILS

The Authorized to Carry (ATC) course is designed to equip armed security guards with the knowledge, skills, and mindset necessary to safely and responsibly carry a firearm openly in accordance with the Firearms Act. This comprehensive course covers a range of topics, including firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, legal considerations, situational awareness and conflict management strategies.

Through instructor-led, hands-on instruction and practical exercises, participants will develop proficiency in firearm handling marksmanship technique, emphasizing round accountability and accuracy.

Additionally, the modernized ATC course modified by Tirsia Tactical emphasizes the importance of situational awareness and de-escalation techniques in potentially volatile situations. Participants will learn how to recognize and avoid potential threats, and how to effectively communication during confrontational encounters.
